Make your PC Faster!
Ever noticed that your PC just gets slower and slower?
Here are a couple of tips you can try to improve it's performance.
Warning - Only attempt this if you are a qualified PC professional
Turn off window indexing service. (Window XP)
- Right click on C:/ then select properties.
- Next uncheck the tick box that enables indexing on that drive.
- You probably will wish to do this for all your other hard drives as well.
- You may wish to turn off the indexing service, which is listed with all the other windows services. I wont tell you how to do this as a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Don't attempt to alter the settings of services unless you really know what you are doing.
Defrag your hard drive.
- Right Click C:/ and then select properties
- then choose the tools tab
- select defragmenter.
Running the disk defragmenter will line up all your files that may have become spread out over different sections of your hard drive. Defragging speeds up your PC by keeping a file all together in one place so the hard drive doesn't have to retrieve from many locations.
